WWI Doughboys and Elsie Janis

Doughboys on the Western Front: Memories of American Soldiers in the Great War appeared last week and I am quite pleased with it.

One of the people I discovered in compiling the book is Elsie Janis, a major entertainer of the years before WWI and during the war as well when she became a favorite of the doughboys, performing for them as often as she could. The section on her can be read here: Elsie Janis.
